Shivani Sen
Founded in 2021 in Vancouver, British Columbia by Shivani Sen, Rise Arts Company strives to offer a fun, lively & professional training environment for all aspiring artists. From starting off as Rise Dance Company back in 2020, Rise expanded to the world of fine arts in 2021.
Shivani was born & raised in Vancouver, BC. Unlike the majority of dancers who begin their training at 3, Shivani’s spark for dance begun at a later age of 11. She grew up a competitive athlete, cheerleader and dancer. Her performing arts background highlights her love for dance and theatre. She trained at Studio 604 & Harbour Dance Centre in the recent years. She was a company dancer for Lux Dance Company, Endangered Dance Company, Self Made Crew, Dream Dance Studio & Shiamak Davar Indo-Jazz Company – training in various street and traditional styles.
Career highlights include dancing as a background dancer on set and at the Times of India Film Awards, dancing with the biggest names in Bollywood - Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai, Abishek Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. Growing up she had many opportunities dancing throughout North America in showcases, competitions, parades and festivals.
Her love for movement furthered her education in obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology & Sociology at the University of British Columbia. Outside of her work in the field of kinesiology, her professional career holds over 15 years working in recreation and program development for children and youth across the lower mainland, as well as 7 years working in marketing.
Aside from Shivani’s love for all things movement, she has a passion for visual arts. Her love for sketching and drawing soon transitioned into illustration, graphic design and ceramics - you can find her work in our shop!
Her passion for fine arts grew and later found that she loved to share her knowledge and skills through teaching & choreographing – Rise Arts Company was created.
Our team is a dynamic blend of seasoned & aspiring educators, social workers, professional artists, dancers & actors deeply rooted in the industry. We offer a unique mix of expertise, combining the creative talents of professional artists with the compassionate perspective of social workers, ensuring the most fun programs!
